Six Hundred; Durian Rainbow Cake + some thoughts about 2013 + SK II Empower Me

November 28, 2013 / , ,

To the ones who were asking me where was the Durian Rainbow Cake from,
my sis bought it from Durian Mpire :)
The exact name is 'Rainbow Symphony Cake'.

My family loved the cake.
I thought it was pretty good!
Durian + Rainbow = Best of both worlds!
Instead of having cream in between each layer,

you get layers of fresh D24 sandwiched between the rainbow coloured sponge layers.
The cake also had durian chocolates on top.

I was so surprised when I took a bite and realized it was durian inside!
I think this is good for Christmas!
(Besides the usual log cakes.......)

Talking about Christmas makes me so excited!!
December is my favourite month :) :) :)
That being said..
it also means that 2013 is coming to an end.
Honestly, I cannot wait for 2013 to be over.
I know I know, this may sound like those usual
"year-end reflections"
or some "this year was bad i can't wait for the new year" stuff.
But really, I don't feel that bad every year.
In fact, I felt positive when 2012 ended.
Maybe it was because 2012 was good,
that made 2013 paled in comparison,
and hence the slightly negative feelings about 2013.

Although 2013 was not as smooth,
with a lot of setbacks & challenges in fact,
I still gained invaluable experiences and life-lessons.
Be it experiences that I went through
or stories of people around me that I heard,
Seeing the ugly sides of people do help us to learn,
& to set a reminder to ourselves of what NOT to be.

Negativity? Nope.
Let's call it Reality.

Reality tells us that no matter how we convince ourselves
not to lose faith in humanity;
there will always be people around you who proved otherwise.
(but we shall continue to have faith anyway.)
Reality tells us that no matter which industry you are in,
you cannot deny that connections are really important.
(but we shall continue to work hard & give our best anyway)
Reality tells us that no matter how you treat people with sincerity,
you may not get the same treatment back.
(but we shall continue to be nice anyway)

I will remember the tears that I shed & the pain that I felt in this year.
Because these emotions are precious, they forced me to grow.
I want to remember these emotions and use them for any possible roles that I may take up in future.
These emotions truly remind me of what I do not want in my life;
they helped me to learn to be contented & to appreciate what I already have,
especially reminding me of the loved ones who are here to stay :)

"People are afraid of themselves, of their own reality;
their feelings most of all.
People talk about how great love is, but that’s bullshit.
Love hurts. Feelings are disturbing.
People are taught that pain is evil and dangerous.
How can they deal with love if they’re afraid to feel?
Pain is meant to wake us up.
People try to hide their pain.
But they’re wrong.
Pain is something to carry, like a radio.
You feel your strength in the experience of pain.
It’s all in how you carry it. That’s what matters.
Pain is a feeling. Your feelings are a part of you.
Your own reality. If you feel ashamed of them, and hide them,
you’re letting society destroy your reality.
You should stand up for your right to feel your pain."
--Jim Morrison

That being said,
of course I had my fair share of happy moments in 2013 too!!
I didn't say that 2013 was bad,
I just mentioned that it was not as smooth.
& that the bad things experienced will only help me to be stronger.
Looking forward to 2014 with a positive mindset!
& if you had a rough year as well,
I hope you can stay positive & continue to have faith :)

Oh yes.. I was talking about December being my favourite month!
hhahahah sorry I sidetracked quite a bit.
X'mas is coming, & if you are starting to think about x'mas gifts,
this could be one of your considerations:

Limited edition SK II Facial Treatment Essence
+ Limited Edition compact mirror featuring Swarovski Elements.
(Retailing at $233)

This is truly an exquisite gift,
which combines elegance and style.
I just started using the facial essence & I liked it so far!
They have also came up several other gift boxes,
which are ideal for both men & women.

I attended a SK II event recently with my special friend.
To be exact, it was SK II's first-ever Empower Me Film Gala Premiere.
Teaming up with UN Women Singapore & Eunice Olsen,
SK II presented to the first-ever Empower Me Series to
celebrate ordinary women who lead extraordinary lives.

We heard the touching & inspiring stories of three ordinary women,
who wanted to make a difference in other women's lives.

SK II donated $10,000 to UN Women Singapore,
to ignite a "Give It Forward" movement.

SK II is launching its latest beauty boutique
at Robinsons Orchard tomorrow (29th Nov 2013),
with special appearances by celebrities George Young and Desmond Tan.
 With every SGD290 spent from 10am – 5pm on SK-II products,
you will get a chance to guess which SK-II Festive Coffrets
George Young and Desmond Tan will pick for their loved ones.
The answers be revealed by two dashing men at 6.45pm
Guess correctly, and you might walk away with the sets!

I will be back soon with more food photos soon because I am heading to a food-tasting
with Melissa & Melvin this afternoon! :)
