After collecting our Casio Sheen watches,

Maybeline & I headed to SHINE Youth Festival 2012 Media Conference,

thanks to OMY. 

*Gives ourselves a pat on our shoulders for waking up so early to be in Town for this event!*

What is SHINE Youth Festival about?!

SHINE Youth Festival is a festival that features an exciting line up of events and activities. Held in the 

Youth Month of July, the festival is a platform for youth between the ages of 15 and 35 to pursue their 

interests, and showcase and use their talents and creativity to promote worthy causes and give back to the community.  The festival is a platform to encourage youth to take the lead in ground-up initiatives, as well as highlight the good work of local youth organisations in nurturing and developing youth leaders.

The SHINE Youth Festival returns with a fiery heart for the community this year.

Theme for 2012: Aspirations

"No dream is too big to achieve if you believe in it."

SHINE 2012 enables youth to unleash their aspirations and 

passion for the community through two brand new initiatives  

- Pitch to SHINE and Pledge to SHINE.

 Pitch to SHINE

Launched early this year to identify and fund youth projects that promote worthy causes

and make a difference in the community.

The grant aims to further the development of youth leaders & organizations & providing them the platform to pursue their interests and advocated the causes they believe in.

“By launching this new grant, we wanted to encourage youth to take action 

and lead ground-up initiatives that would benefit the community. We are heartened to

support 16 deserving projects this year, and  hope to see more groups come forward

next year with even more dynamic and engaging ideas,”

Artists living with Spina Bifida - Alvina Neo and Bernard Toh from Dreamcatchers,
a Gold Pitch to SHINE grant awardee - sharing more about the inspiration behind their artworks.

Dreamcatchers, one of the Gold Awardees from the Pitch to SHINE grant,

is an adolescent chronic illness peer group with the slogan:

"Dreams. Hope. Inspire."

It is made up of a group of unique youths that hold on firmly to the belief that chronic illnesses are not disabling,
& represents the possibilities if one dares to dream & put their hearts to it.

"When words fail, Art speaks."

Project Dreamcatchers is a creative visual arts exhibition featuring artworks 

by chronic illness patients depicting the theme of aspirations. 

This project is aimed at inspiring youths,

& reminding them that there is so much that can be achieved if they dare to dream.

The exhibition launches on 27 July 2012 at the Goodman Arts Centre & will be opened til 29 July 2012 :)

After the event, Maybeline, William, YuHao & I headed to @ Cine to chillax for awhile

We had some inside joke about Liu Sha Baos in real life vs Liu Sha Baos in menu.

Thanks to William, Maybeline & I almost wanted to dig a hole to hide.

hahahahaha!

Glad to have attended this event,

& found out more about SHINE Youth Festival.

To be honest, it felt a lil' weird 

because I kept hearing my name being mentioned throughout the event. 

hahahah.
